Transparent Partitioning of Distributed Virual Environments
This thesis describes a technique for constructing Distributed Virtual
Environments (DVEs ) shared by many users, which aims at reducing
significantly the amount of interaction among the distributed
processes.
The main contribution of this work is the development of distributed protocols
for an architecture based on decentralized servers, which allows the
partitioning of the the virtual environment into regular regions (domains) and
the transparent migration of actors between domains.
A prototype for demonstrating the decomposition for a simple 2D virtual world has been implemented in Java.
